Welcome to Guy Fawkes 10! We might have moved house, but the Guy Fawkes 10 remains just as hilly, as chocolatey, and as long sleeved as ever. We can't wait for you to join us.
The CourseOur race base is in the lovely town of Pateley Bridge, about ten miles further up Nidderdale from our previous home in Ripley. We have a lovely route which, with the exception of a small farm track, is all on road. Runners pass through the village of Bewerley, out on the road towards Glasshouses, and then head along the farm track on the south of the river Nidd towards Darce Banks. Things then get interesting as you then climb to Dacre and take the roads around Heyshaw and Nought Moor before a thrilling descent back into Bewerley with a final cheeky climb back to the finish line.
There will be 2 drinks stations on route at approximately 3.5 miles and 7.5 miles. Drinks will also be provided at the finish.
Qualified first aid assistance will be present at the Race HQ and start/finish, and will be available on the course if required.
Prize giving will take place at the Race HQ at approximately 12.45.
Directions to the Race VenueThe venue is Pateley Bridge Showground, Pateley Bridge, HG3 5BD. Please park as directed by race officials.
The Race HQ is a three minute walk away at Pateley Bridge Primary School, King Street, Pateley Bridge, HG3 5LE. All numbers are to be collected from the Race HQ on race day. Please allow ample time for this.
Time LimitThere will be an official time limit of 2:20.00 (which equated to a 14 min/mile pace). Competitors on the course after this time may be asked to retire from the race and may not get an official time.
Changing and ToiletsThere will be toilet facilities available in the main car park near the race start, and public facilities are available in town. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide any changing, showering, or bag storage facilities.
Safety AdviceThe course is not suitable for wheelchairs and dogs are not permitted, as the route uses public roads and also crosses working farmland.
Participants are asked not to wear headphones (including out-of-ear devices) during the race or the safety briefing. Hearing aids are obviously permissible. The Guy Fawkes 10 is run on open public roads with other road users. It is vitally important you are able to hear and act upon any safety instructions issued to you by race officials. If you wear headphones, we will disqualify you. Sounds harsh, but we have to keep everyone safe.
And it goes without saying that it is reckless and dangerous to run under somebody else's number. Doing so presents a health risk to participants and problems for the organisers and medical support crews. Again, if you do it, we will disqualify you.
Race CancellationIn the unlikely event that the race cannot go ahead for reasons beyond our control, we will be unable to issue refunds as many of the race expenses will have been incurred beforehand.
We are not able to roll over entries to subsequent years.
