On Sunday 11th October 2026, the Alcester 10K returns with its much-loved rolling route through stunning countryside lanes, starting and finishing in the heart of Alcester town centre. It’s the perfect way to round off a summer of running.
The race was born from the passion of Raceways CEO, and proud Alcester local, Martine Verweij. Inspired by the town’s incredible community spirit and vibrant event atmosphere, Martine wanted to create something special for the place she calls home. And so, the Alcester 10K was born.
Over the years we’ve made unforgettable memories, faced our fair share of challenges, and learned countless lessons, all helping us deliver a better race every single year.
From the early days working alongside the force of nature that was the late Mayor Lennox Cumberbatch, this event has always been rooted in community. Lennox’s legacy lives on through the Lennox Cumberbatch Trophy, awarded annually to the first-placed male and female under-18 runners.
Some traditions have become legendary… including runners sprinting the final metres not for a PB, but to be first to the bar at The Turks Head! And with a Hogans Cider “boost” waiting around 7km, we can promise the energy is high (and totally legal… honest!).
Our route has evolved, including a full reversal to help ease traffic through the northern town roads, but it still offers a brilliant challenge for seasoned racers, PB chasers, and first-timers alike. And nothing beats the welcome back into the town centre: spectators lining the barriers, cowbells ringing, and a finish-line atmosphere like no other.
Once the adults finish, the Kids Fun Run takes over, dozens of young runners charging down the High Street, year after year one of our absolute highlights.
As the home race for Run Alcester, you can always spot a sea of red shirts, on the course and volunteering across registration, water stations, marshalling, and the finish line. The club also sponsors the Lizzie Tovey Award for Inspiration, honouring an inspiring runner each year in memory of Lizzie and her remarkable strength and fundraising achievements.
